Lemon Penne with Broccoli & Bacon


I'm thinking about changing our name to Broccoli & Bacon – I'm totally obsessed with the combo. In fact, I almost made broccoli wrapped in bacon, but I decided that would be too weird. Bacon wrapped things always sound better than the end result.

I made a light sauce with white wine and lemon juice, and then topped it with lemon rind to add some brightness. The Peperoncini from Terroni brought the heat.

It's Fall


You know it's Fall when you start to get a craving for something warm and comforting like a bowl of soup. Makes me feel sad about Summer being over, especially since it barely even arrived. But my colleague, Olive (her Broccoli&Prosecco name), tipped me off to her favourite chicken soup recipe with lemon and dill (and rice and spinach) and it was a savoury consolation for having to now wear sweaters and closed-toe shoes to work.

Signature Dish


Everyone has to have a signature dish so I stole this one...
Emeril missed a few essential ingredients however, namely bacon, or in this case pancetta and bbq'd lemon chicken. Considering the crap they use in most restaurant dressings I think I'm still ahead here.

If life hands you lemons…make lemon cake



Since there's been an utter lack of sunshine around our parts these days, I'm relying on popping vitamin D pills and the sunny yellow goodness of lemons to get me through these (hopefully) last days of winter. This lemon cake (gâteau, if you want to be fancy) is more like a lemon loaf, but still moist and delicious all the same. Recipe from Orangette. Oh, and one more thing that'll help you combat winter- a tart cocktail. Mix one part Limonatta, one part Grey Goose, a twist of lemon and chill out while the cake's in the oven.
